In
contrast to my thoughts from yesterday’s reading in the New Testament,
today we have the opposite side of the same coin. When a leader is led by inspiration, it is
foolish to trust in experts rather than prophets. Certainly the expert knew more than Paul
about ship travel, but Paul was led by the Spirit of the Lord and those sailing
should have trusted him.
But of
particular note is that they learned to trust him based upon their experiences
with him. When Paul spoke about staying
with the ship, they learned that when an Apostle speaks with the Spirit, they
would be wise to obey him.
