Exodus 27-28

(March 10, 2014)
We sometimes like to think that we are better or more loved of the Lord because of our righteousness.  It is a continual conceit, but one that I know isn’t justified.  I was struck by this fact when I read of the breastplate having twelve stones – one for each of the tribes of Israel.  Israel’s sons were, at least in part, lamentable.  There were murderer and adulterers and so forth.  Some of their final blessings were far from buoying.  And yet, here were their descendants loved of the Lord and being rescued from Egypt.  The Lord didn’t just rescue the people of Ephraim or Judah, but all of Israel.  There is a lesson to be learned from that.
