How many times in our lives do we follow the example of the people of Limhi? We take a course of action that is contrary to the Gospel, and as a result we find ourselves hurt and suffering from the inevitable consequences of our behavior. Hurting, we seek out comfort and relief in taking further steps contrary to the Gospel, in the same way the cries of the widows led the people of Limhi to further failed military action against the Lamanites. Our course of action will never get us where we want to go, but we follow it stubbornly nevertheless – distracting ourselves from the wounds of yesterday by fresh injury today.
