I
appreciated Mormon including in his own record the fulfillment of Samuel’s
prophecy. It made sense in a way – I could
have been unfairly disparaging Mormon in his approach when the prejudices were
in the original records. After all, by
Mormon’s time Nephites and Lamanites as racial distinctions were just about
eliminated. It seems reasonable that
Mormon would be less concerned about Samuel being a Lamanite (although his
writings would still be focused as a lineage record) than would those alive at
the time of the coming of Christ.
