Mormon’s
expression of gratitude in this chapter is quite interesting, because he
currently faced the destruction of his entire people. Though he might have hoped for miraculous
salvation, he must have understood from the records he was keeping that this
deliverance was very unlikely to come.
And yet, though he faced destruction himself he still expressed
gratitude that another people four hundred years earlier had been delivered in
the way that he would not be delivered.
What
faith and understanding (and, frankly, charity) this demonstrated.
