The parable of the vineyard teaches a number of
important lessons, but one of the most priceless of these lessons is the fact
that we are not masters. We are
servants, and to the extend that we begin to act as though we are masters we
create a cascade of consequences that ultimately bring us into open conflict
with the ultimate Master. We cannot be
both masters and servants (though those given stewardships are given greater
opportunities for service).
