It
struck me as I read this chapter how frequently being made perfect was used
almost synonymously with being made one.
Being made perfect is, in its essence, a simple thing – we become
perfect as we are joined with the Lord (who is perfect Himself). There is no other way. We cannot become perfect and not be one with
the Savior, just as we cannot be perfect and not be one with the Father.
With
that understanding, it is clearer to recognize why the two are used so
interchangeably here by the Lord.
