2 Chronicles 12-13

(September 7, 2014)
This section has a great phrase – priests of them that are no gods.  How many of us are priests of them that are no gods?  We have met those that worship football, or cooking, or video games.  Is there a god of football?  Of course not, and yet football has its priests.

Ultimately, though, it is not that they are priests of them that are no gods, but rather they are priests of him opposed to God.  Idolatry is everywhere in our modern society, just as it existed anciently.  The human, carnal impulse to create gods in our image didn’t go away with the invention of indoor plumbing.  We still seek out them that are no gods, and we must be careful to always choose to follow the Lord instead.
