The
center of this chapter is humility – do we have the humility to bow ourselves
before the Lord? All of the children of Israel
were, at this time, corrupt – unworthy to even partake of the Passover. And yet, only a portion was willing to
conceded that they were corrupt. And
ironically those who recognized that they were corrupt and unworthy were those
who ultimately accepted the sacrifices and became clean, while those who saw
themselves as above the sacrifices in Jerusalem
became more unworthy still and ultimately were destroyed.
