Exodus 33-34

(March 14, 2014)
The relationship between God and Moses (and between God and Israel) is one full of learning opportunities.  Moses acting as an intermediary for the people of Israel (and their advocate) is literally as though he was acting as a Savior.  The people of Israel would not approach God (or could not approach God) – instead sending Moses to communicate with Him.  In light of the fact that Moses had to veil his face (to hide the evidence of his divine communications), it seems as though that was almost a conscious choice on the part of the people of Israel – they did not want the exposure to the Divine (it might crimp their lifestyle?), but instead wanted Moses to intervene between them and God.
