As a
parent, I read these chapters wondering what my children would have done when
they saw Christ. In my imagination, they
said something funny or my youngest tugged on His beard as though He was Santa
Claus or something similar. In truth, though, I can’t imagine any of them doing
that if they were blessed to be in the presence of the Savior.
I think
that the children were likely on their very best behaviors at that point (am I
wrong on that?). I think that sometimes we
assume that children misbehave because we as parents accept too little responsibility
for their behaviors. I can’t be sure on
any of this, of course, but it is something to think about.
