Each of
us would like to think that, were we put in Jeremiah’s shoes and called upon to
testify of the Lord at the potential cost of our lives, that we would be
adequately brave in the face of this challenge. But Jeremiah did not reach this point in a
day. He reached it by speaking the Lord’s
words day after day, week after week. He
reached it by turning his life fully over to the Lord to the best of his
ability. If we cannot serve the Lord
during our times of peace, we will not have developed the strength to serve the
Lord during the moments of challenge.
