2 Chronicles 1-2

                Solomon’s blessing from the Lord is instructive to us.  Solomon asked for something to make him a better servant, rather than for something to make his life better.  Because of this, he was given what he asked for to better help him serve and he was given the temporal blessings as well.

                Of course, we cannot count on those temporal blessings at all times.  But frequently when we ask for things to make us better servants, or we request blessings to better the lives of those around us, we find that we are the ones who are blessed through our focus on the serving of others.
