Doctrine and Covenants 48

(October 13, 2015)
I appreciate the language in this chapter as providing guidance for each of us.  There is a recognition, in the Lord, of the value of money.  We clearly don’t think of it as worthless, because money is a necessary element of our society that can accomplish a great deal.  In our scriptures, there are several times when the benefits of money are clearly shown (whether the widow’s mite or seeking for riches after seeking for the Kingdom of God).

We get another example of that here.  The instruction is given to seek out the money that they could obtain in righteousness for the Lord’s purposes.  I think each of the conditions are important – it isn’t enough to merely have the Lord’s purposes in mind (important though that is).  We must also be seeking to obtain that money in righteousness.
