Doctrine and Covenants 50

(October 15, 2015)
If ever there was a perfect scripture for the efforts of working towards someone else’s conversion, this is that chapter.  I have repeatedly read what was being taught, but it wasn’t until this time that I realized that it was just as important how it was being taught.  Beyond merely giving us doctrine, Christ was teaching by example.

Christ didn’t fear to use reasoning (apologetics, if you’d like).  He used those to help everyone come to an understanding but at the same time He never indicated that the reasoning was sufficient – instead there is a recognition that reason is only a means to an ultimate end.

This whole chapter is full of great doctrine on teaching, but that one thing was the thing that most struck me as a I read.
