The
preeminent role of charity makes sense when we realize that charity is, to a
great extent, what makes God God. Our
Father spends His eternity serving and working for our betterment – not because
He must but because He loves us.
Although He is omnipotent and omniscient, it is His charity that most
governs His interactions with us.
In
light of this, it is no wonder that following the path of the Savior most
requires us to follow His footsteps in charity.
