I
cannot help but to read this chapter in light of what is going on in the world
today and the current state of affairs.
We see all around us men desirous to be ‘kings,’ flattering those around
them also seeking for power. We even
see, as here, members of the Church being led astray by these actions.
The
truly frightening thing in all of this is that these events happened in the
time just before the war chapters of the Book of Mormon, and Mormon saw
our day. Does the fact that our politics
seem to be following this outline mean that the wars are coming? I certainly worry that might be true.
