Hebrews 2-5

(August 19, 2015)
There are some things that happen to you that color the way you see the scriptures and the rest of the world.  I have had some experiences of this sort that draw my attention towards the importance of leaders having compassion on those out of the way and those who are ignorant.

This is really just another way of saying “showing forth afterwards an increase of love toward him whom thou hast reproved, lest he esteem thee to be his enemy.”  In the absence of compassion and love for those under a leader’s stewardship, that leader’s capacity to make meaningful change and bring about repentance is severely curtailed.  Any progress is often in spite of, and not because of, the leader’s participation.

On the other hand, when you know that a leader has love for you and compassion for you, it changes the way you view so many things.  It prepared the ground of the soul for the call for repentance.
