There
is an interesting construct here – the people were sorrowing, yet because they
were acquiring knowledge they were also rejoicing. That sums up, I think, the proper response to
at least a portion of our trials in mortality.
Though they may cause suffering, if we can look at what we are experiencing
and recognize that we are developing knowledge as a result these trials then
become a source of joy even as they produce sorrow.
